Called to Serve

About 4 weeks ago I made the decision to go on a mission. 2 weeks later my papers were submitted and not even 2 weeks after that (on Friday, June 10th) I received my call to serve in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission. I will be speaking English and I report to the MTC on July 20th! So that puts it at 10 weeks from the time I decided to go to the time I'm in the MTC. Pretty fast, but I couldn't be more excited!! My next 6 weeks go like this:

Jun. 14-22 work at Dad's office/prepare
Jun. 23-26 family reunion at Lake Jordanelle
Jun. 27-30 visit Bryn and Sierra
Jul. 1-17 Hill Cumorah Pageant in New York
Jul. 20 report to MTC
Aug. 3 Hawaii

Just so you can visualize......

work to family reunion at Jordanelle

to visit Bryn and Sierra to Hill Cumorah Pageant

to MTC

to Hawaii, where I'll stay for the next 18 months!!

Fun-check. Busy-check. Spiritually edifying-check. Does it get any better than this??

I Bet You're Surpised to See This!!

Well, it's been quite a while since I last updated my blog, and at the request/demand of Natalie, I decided I should probably give a little update. The problem is, there really isn't much to tell about this past year. So instead I'll just tell give you a quick rundown of what's new in my life.

I am still at BYU-Idaho. I have an Associate's and only have two more semesters left until I get my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. I teach at a preschool and have so much fun with those little cuties. I spend way too much time doing homework, but only 4 more weeks until I get 5 months off for the summer!! I am currently taking a "Teachings of the Living Prophets" class, which is my favourite class that I have ever taken in my life! It's awesome and I have learned so much. I have one piece of advice for everyone: READ THE CONFERENCE TALKS! They are absolutely amazing and you get so much more from them that you can add to what you actually remember from general conference.

Hmmm.....that's about it! I told you there wasn't much. But don't worry, I love my life. I wouldn't ever trade it for anything different.

P.S. Along with being the most terrible blogger, I'm also the most awful photographer (as in I never take photographs). I'm sorry I have no pictures to put up with this post, but I will soon.

This Was My Halloween

I had a very fun Halloween! Two weeks before Halloween, my mom and Maiya came to visit me, which was SOOO fun! While they were here visiting, we had a Ward Halloween party. We all signed up to dress as someone from a list and their partner signed up on another list, one for boys and one for girls and we did not know who our partner was until we showed up at the party, which was dinner and we had to figure out a little mystery, which was presented in a skit. It was fun, and Mom and Maiya came as each other's dates, so here are some pictures.

These are four of my five roommates and Maiya.

(Maggie (Sandy), Amber (Minnie Mouse), Me (Maid Marion), Eden (Barbie), Debbie (Juliet), and Maiya (Princess Tiger Lily))

After that week, I went to Utah to visit Bryn and Sierra and my parents, who were also visiting. We had a ton of fun together. Then, the weekend of Halloween one of my best friends, Brittany Brassell, came up from Utah to visit and we also had so much fun then. On Halloween we went to a "real" haunted house out in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't very scary, but there were a few spooky parts.

Brit and I...scared to get too close. Us in the middle of the forest.

If you can't tell, Brit was a biker chic, Nate was a doctor, Patrick was a gorilla (but he doesn't have his mask on), and I was Donna from "That 70s Show".

And these are just of us and some of our other friends hanging out:

School school school -- Yay!!

This morning I spent my time (while sitting at the front desk waiting for calls that scarcely come) planning out my schedule for the coming semester. You know, finding the times between classes that I can eat lunch, figuring out what time I have to wake up every morning in order to get a little exercise in before class, and seeing what time I will be done with classes for the day. I had fun making a little schedule for myself and I got really excited for this coming semester. I have good classes for the most part and I have a few professors that I have had before and loved, so things are looking pretty good.

My concern lies in my housing situation. The apartments I am in has quite a reputation and I worry about it. It's the wild, snobby, rich-kid building. I am just hoping and praying with all that is in me, that somehow I will be placed with roommates that are good, honor-code-following, fun girls. I am really hoping that this semester will be a good one, and one that I make many more friends. Please!!

But, back to my original point. I am getting super excited about returning to school. I love Rexburg and although this summer has been good, interesting, certainly unforgettable, I am ready to go back to student life.
